Summary

Summary

"Being a magician is no easy trick. It hinges on one of the human qualities that's most difficult to achieve....Genuine self-confidence, humility, and a sense of wonder: bravo, Tito." - Kirkus Reviews

Manu, the magician at Circus Rondo, is fantastic. With a little magic powder, a wand, and a few words, he can pull amazing things out of his top hat. Tito, the little clown, would love to do that kind of magic. But when he tries with his own little brown hat, the magic doesn't work at all. Maybe it's because he's uncertain and shy. What would happen if Tito were to ask Manu to show him how the trick really works?

An endearing picture book about magic and daring, for children ages 3 years and up.

Excerpts

That evening Tito was watching again. Hecko did a trick with three little balls this time and a bunch of flowers. Suddenly he said: 'Ladies and gentlemen, and now please everybody clap your hands for my new assistant ...' '... Tito!' The orchestra started playing and Hecko gave his cloak and of course also his wand and his magic hat to Tito. 'Your turn, Tito,' he whispered. 'Now you are going to do magic!' Bravely Tito ran to his place. But when he had to start, he did tremble. First he sprinkled a little magic powder on the hat. Then he waved his wand three times, exactly the way Hecko had shown him. 'HOCUS ... SPOCUS ... PILATUS ... PATS!' Tito's hand disappeared in the high hat. 'I know that you can do it, Tito,' Hecko whispered. And yes, indeed, all the way down at the bottom of the hat Tito had conjured up a real white mouse! 'Hurray!' Hecko and all the people in the audience called out. Hurray for Tito the Magician!' Tito sighed with proud. So happy he was, because he made it. He can really do magic. Excerpted from Tito the Magician All rights reserved by the original copyright owners.
