Summary:
A Greek myth for young readers which explains how a young peasant woman, Arachne, a weaver, challenged Athena, a goddess, to a weaving contest because Athena was also very skillful. When the contest was finished, both weavers were judged to possess the same talent, but Arachne was full of pride. Later when Arachne feels humilated, she hung herself and Athena brought her back to life as a spider and Arachne continues to weave beautiful webs.
