When Korean American Georgia Kim begins attending a new suburban high school in order to get better services for her older brother Leonardo, who has an unnamed neurological disability that resembles autism, she doesn't feel like she fits in anywhere. She struggles to find her place in a majority White school, and she feels like isn't "Korean" enough for her Korean community. Additionally, Georgia is fiercely devoted to protecting Leo from the cruelty and ignorance of the outside world which puts her at odds with her immigrant parents' dreams for her future and an ableist, racist society.
