Summary:
Upon learning the prophecy that he will be killed by his grandson Perseus, the king of Argos has him and his mother thrown into the sea where they are rescued and cared for by a fisherman and his family. Later, in order to claim his heritage, Perseus is ordered to kill the monster, Medusa, and is aided by gods and goddesses. Upon succeeding, Perseus returns to Argos whereupon he inadvertently kills his grandfather, the king, fulfilling the prophecy.
