When the Masters rules committee chairman is found dead on the twelfth green at Augusta National Golf Club, Sam Skarda, a police detective on medical leave from the Minneapolis police department, begins to investigate. The case gets even more complicated when a New York Times columnist is killed at the club two days later. The police suspect a club member committed the murders, and the club chairman is desperate to save the club's reputation. As Sam gets closer to the truth, he finds himself a target and uncovers a plot to stop the Masters from happening.
