Snowy Lane, a young police constable in Perth in 1979, begins investigating a string of murders of young women by a serial killer dubbed "Mr Gruesome." A local man is later arrested for the crimes, but Snowy doesn't believe he's the real killer. Unfortunately, he is unable to prove his hunch before the man commits suicide and he leaves the police force. By the 1980s, Snowy is now a private investigator and when a new series of murders rock the city, Snowy must discover if the murders were committed by a copycat or the real "Mr. Gruesome."
